Q. Do I need to know how to play Magic: The Gathering in order to play Arena?
A. Nope! An in-game new player tutorial will teach you the fundamentals of how to play Magic, and completing it will award you decks to play with, as well as gold to participate in the events. A new player experience system will walk you through upgrading and editing decks, and you can play practices matches to help fine-tune your skills!

A. Currently, Magic: The Gathering Arena is available in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Korean, and Japanese. We'll be looking at adding additional languages in the future.

A. Magic: The Gathering Arena supports Standard and Limited (Draft/Sealed) formats, as well as a variety of special events such as Singleton and Pauper. Learn more about these event types. Q. What sets are currently available in Magic: The Gathering Arena?
A. All Standard legal sets are available in MTG Arena: Ixalan, Rivals of Ixalan, Dominaria, Core Set 2019, Guilds of Ravnica, Ravncia Allegiance, War of the Spark, and Core Set 2020.
Q. What about Kaladesh and Amonkhet block? Weren't those available during Closed Beta?
A. While those sets were available during the Closed Beta, with the last fall’s rotation they're no longer available for purchase in MTG Arena.
Q. When will new Magic: The Gathering sets be added to MTG Arena?
A. New Standard-legal sets for MTG Arena will launch alongside their tabletop counterpart, allowing MTG Arena to always be a current Magic experience.
Q. What's the difference between "Traditional" events and other formats?
A. Traditional events and play queues use a best-of-three format, and use a rules and ban list that aligns with tabletop magic. All other events use a best-of-one format.
Q. What's the difference between "Ranked" play and non-ranked formats?
Ranked play is for our competitive events and play queues. Players can advance their Constructed or Limited rank through playing in Ranked formats, and the top players from each season qualify for the respective Mythic Championship Qualifier Weekend. Q. How much does Magic: The Gathering Arena Cost?
A. MTG Arena is free to download. Players looking to enhance their game experience will have the opportunity to do so through in-game purchases of gems, but purchases are not required to access the full depth of authentic Magic: The Gathering gameplay.
Q. Who do I contact if I encounter issues during a transaction in Magic: The Gathering Arena?

Q. What’s the difference between “Gold” and “Gems”?
A. Gold is earned by playing and completing in-game quests, winning matches, and participating in special events. Gold can used to purchase packs, enter certain events, and access some cosmetics. Gems can be purchased in the store and can also be used to purchase packs, event events, and purchase most cosmetics. Gems can also be unlocked in limited amounts as rewards from certain in-game free-to-play events.
Q. I received a code for Arena in a physical pack of Magic: The Gathering cards. How do I redeem it?
A. If you receive an Arena code in in a physical Magic: The Gathering product, you can redeem it in the in-game store by selecting the "Redeem a Code" option. Terms and Conditions apply. Registration is required.
Q. Will any gameplay content only be accessible by paying real-world money?
A. You will be able to play games of Magic and grow your collection without having to purchase and spend gems. Gems will be available to purchase for players who want to accelerate their collection. Gems can also be unlocked in limited amounts as rewards from certain in-game events. We do host some events that can only be entered with gems, but these gems can be earned from other events.
Q. How do I earn Gold or Gems?
A. The game features two different kinds of currency - Gold and Gems. Gold is earned by playing and earning rewards. These rewards can be earned by completing in-game quests, winning matches, and participating in special game events. This Gold can be used to purchase packs and compete in certain game modes like Ranked Drafts or weekend events. Gems can be purchased in the store and can also be used to purchase packs and enter events.
Q. How much do gems cost?
A. Players can purchase gems with real-world money. Gems can be purchased for the following amount, USD:
- 750 gems: $4.99
- 1,600 gems: $9.99
- 3,400 gems: $19.99
- 9,200 gems: $49.99
- 20,000 gems: $99.99
Players can also purchase our Welcome Bundle (limit one per account) for $4.99, which contains 2,500 gems and five booster packs from the most recent Core Set.

A. Gems can be used to purchase booster packs, cosmetic options, or as entry into certain events.
Q. Can I purchase gold?
A. Gold can only be earned through play.
