General
What Are Achievements?
Achievements are a new feature coming to MTG Arena with the release of Aetherdrift. By completing various in-game actions and activities, you will earn Achievements and Achievement-based rewards.
Is Achievement progress retroactive?
Achievements are not retroactive. All Achievement progress will begin with the release of Aetherdrift.
Some state-based Achievements could be completed upon launching the client (e.g. Reach Gold Rank in either Constructed or Limited.), but they will not be referencing any past actions to do so.
How do I unlock Achievements?
Achievements are unlocked upon completing (or skipping) the Tutorial of the game. Any player beyond the Tutorial will automatically access Achievements on your account with the release of Aetherdrift.
How do I complete Achievements?
It depends on the Achievement! Some may require you to cast a certain number of spells, win a certain number of matches, play a certain type of event, etc. For more information on how to complete a specific achievement, and to confirm your current progress, please refer to the individual Achievement on the Achievements tab.
What kind of Achievements are available?
While we’ll be launching with 100+ individual achievements, you can break down the kind of Achievements currently available into nine Achievement Groups:
- Welcome to MTG Arena!
- MTG Arena Milestones
- MTG Arena Formats
- Advanced Achievements
- Color Mastery: White
- Color Mastery: Blue
- Color Mastery: Black
- Color Mastery: Red
- Color Mastery: Green
Where can I see my Achievement Progress?
Progress can be viewed for each Achievement under the Achievement Tab, located at the top of the Home menu. By favoriting a specific Achievement you will be able to track your progress on the Home Page (just like we track progress for Daily Quests, etc.). Lastly, after completing your Daily Quests, Achievements you’ve either recently progressed against or are close to completing will appear in their place.
What does the heart (♥) symbol next to an Achievement mean? / How do I Favorite Achievements?
Like favoriting specific card styles or basic lands, clicking the heart symbol (♥) next to an Achievement allows you to favorite that specific Achievement. By favoriting an Achievement, you will be able to track its progress directly from the Home page, alongside Daily Quest progress.
Will more Achievements be available in the future?
We don't have timelines or specific plans we want to announce here, but we're very excited about the possibilities with this system and other places we can take it in the future.
Is the Achievement system replacing the Set Mastery/Emporium?
There are currently no plans for the Achievement system to replace Set Mastery or Set Emporiums.
I’ve been playing since Closed Beta and I have the cards to prove it. Does this prevent me from earning certain achievements?
Nope! Any Achievement based on permanent Account progress or state (i.e. “Collect x1 copy of every card in a set”) will be automatically earned with the launch of this feature.
Rewards
What kind of rewards can I earn?
Lots! Rewards include Avatars, Stickers, Card Sleeves, Phrases – and will also include a new cosmetic option, Titles!
Do all Achievements grant rewards?
Achievement-based rewards can be broken down into two types: rewards for completing a specific achievement, or rewards for reaching certain milestones on the Reward Track in each Achievement Group. While you may not earn a reward for completing every specific Achievement, every Achievement will grant progress towards rewards on the Reward Track.
Why do some Achievements have different icons?
The icons located in the bottom right of each Achievement denotes the type of reward you earn by completing it. For example, a text box icon represents an Achievement with a Phrase emote reward, a smiley face represents a Sticker emote, a Card Sleeve represents a… Card Sleeve reward, etc.
An important note, every Achievement will make progress on the Reward Track for that Achievement Group.
Titles
What are Titles?
Titles are a new cosmetic reward launching with Aetherdrift as part of our Achievement System. Titles will be displayed below your username when loading into matches as well as within the Duel Scene.
How do I earn Titles?
Currently, Titles are earned by completing certain Achievements.
Which Achievements reward Titles?
Look for the crown icon reward within the Achievements tab to find them!
How do I select my Title?
You can select Title by navigating to your Profile, and selecting the “Title” option located next to the other player customization options (Avatar, Companion, etc.)
