Game Update Highlights
- Alchemy has arrived at Karlov Manor! Check out new booster packs in the store, new draft formats, and some new cosmetics.
- Fallout cosmetics are also available in the store, with new sleeves, full-art lands, and a Dogmeat companion.
- We’ve rebalanced a couple cards in Alchemy. See below for more info on Fragment Reality and Geological Appraiser.
Notable Bug Updates
- Attempting to open multiple Golden Packs at once will no longer result in an error.
General
- Store Booster Packs have been updated to include cards banned in Historic. This will make it easier to collect powerful cards for the Timeless format from sources like Strixhaven’s Mystical Archive.
- Made improvements for our Customer Services tools to improve our ability to quickly respond to our incoming requests.
- Updated our registration flow to better accommodate age restrictions across all countries.
- Updated the credits as part of our bi-annual effort to have our credits represent our personnel.
- Updated credits within Universes Beyond and included a button to more easily jump to the Universes Beyond section.
Gameplay
Rebalances
With Y24-MKM, we are rebalancing two cards:
- Fragment Reality (Y23-NEO): "Exile target nontoken artifact, creature, or enchantment" -> "Exile target nontoken artifact, creature, or enchantment an opponent controls"
- Geological Appraiser (LCI): Mana cost increased from 2RR -> 3RR
Fragment Reality has created an unfun early game combo in combination with multiple Leyline cards that works even when taking a mulligan to 3-4 card hands. This has resulted in a powerful and consistent deck that is taking up too much space in Historic and Timeless metagame.
Geological Appraiser has proven its a bit too aggressive for our current Alchemy and Historic formats. By slowing this card down, the Discover based decks will be better balanced across the formats.
Other
- Cases no longer track completion during your opponent’s turn since they can’t be solved on their turn.
- Why didn't Jetmir's Garden have VFX when the other SNC Triomes did? This is a secret I'll take to my grave. Why does it have VFX now? So people will stop asking me the first question.
- Lotus Field now gives you the opportunity to respond to your own trigger, without setting a stop.
- People who like Spelunking, rejoice.
- Escalate no longer allows you to choose modes you can't afford, only to have casting fail.
- If a player uses Vannifar to cloak a card from hand, and they only have one card in hand, and that card is revealed, the face down card will also be revealed.
- If you're casting a spell targeting an opponent's creature that has a Ward ability, and the spell you're casting cannot be countered, the option to pay the ward cost is now greyed out.
- You can still click it though. Maybe you love paying two mana. I don't know your life.

Bug Fixes
General
- Traditional Alchemy Event now displays the correct Booster pack in the reward track.
- Fixed an issue where upon reconnecting to a match, the Emote menu did not open causing emotes to be inaccessible to the player.
- Fixed an issue where when the user edited a deck during Friend Challenge, the Playblade changed from Friend Challenge to Direct Challenge.
- Fixed an issue where in Bot Matches that occurred leading up to a new update, Sparky would sometimes take 4-5 seconds between actions.
- Fixed an issue where players were sometimes unable to edit the selected deck from the Recently Played menu.
- Fixed an issue on Mobile where the Globe icon was appearing across all buttons. It should now only appear on buttons that take the player outside of the game.
- Fixed an issue in the Color Challenge, where players should now more clearly be able to choose which Color Challenge track they want to take on.
- Fixed an issue where players were unable to view the Battlefield sideboarding.
- Fixed a recent issue where certain card art was being stretched across deck boxes.
- Updated the inbox message disclaimer to better communicate that unclaimed items are automatically claimed upon expiration.
- Reconnecting to a match during a traditional 40 card direct challenge match no longer causes a deck size error.
- Updated the Codex of the Multiverse to include Timeless as one of our new constructed formats.
Gameplay
- Case File Auditor’s ability to spend mana on cases as if it were any color was working while the card is face down. Now it doesn’t.
- Fixed an issue with expose the culprit and attempting to return token copies of creatures with Disguise
- Fixed a rare exception caused by repeatedly moving a card with disguise back and forth between zones.
- Grafdigger’s Cage and other cards that prohibited playing cards from the graveyard were working while face down. This has been fixed.
- RoboQA found a crash that involved Curse of Leeches and Blade of Shared Souls. It wasn’t actually possible to cause this to happen without some frowned upon behavior, but we fixed it regardless.
- Face Down creatures that became suspects weren’t showing the Suspect badge. Now, while you may not know who they are, you know that you don’t trust them.
- Emerge was allowing you to sacrifice additional creatures. As far as I can tell none of you figured out how to abuse this, but I’m sure given time y’all would have figured it out.
- Outrageous Robbery wasn’t displaying the right number of cards that your opponent could cast from it.
- Phasing out a creature while it has an ability on the stack that lasts “until it leaves the battlefield” was causing the ability to not resolve but ACTUALLY it hasn’t left the battlefield, it just stopped existing, so the ability should still resolve.
- Phasing is weird.
- Conduit of Worlds wasn’t letting you cast spells face down. Now it does, have fun!
- Okay, imagine this scenario: you have animated permanents that have taken damage, then stopped being creatures AND ALSO something is preventing damage from being removed. Those permanents shouldn’t stack, because you might want to sacrifice the more damaged one or something. Now they don’t!
- Facedown cards that couldn’t turn face up were, in addition to the “can’t turn face up” hanger, showing a “can’t cast” hanger. Now they don’t.
- Suspected creatures that lost all abilities were losing the suspect hanger. Now they don’t.
- Horn of the Mark was triggering if at least one creature was attacking a player, and there were other creatures attacking something.
- This was wrong, and the Horn is sorry.
- Creatures with both “must attack” and “must block” were only showing the “must attack” hanger. Now they show that they must block, even though they’ll probably be tapped most of the time and it won’t matter.
- For a handful of cards Sculpting Steel was showing VFX of the wrong size. We’ve fixed the known cases, so if you find another, I guess tell me and we’ll fix that too.
- If players were getting extra turns it would sometimes show stops marked, but not stop for them. Now it stops so you can do upkeep shenanigans or whatever.
- Descend animations were sticking around if the spell was countered.
- Fixed an issue with casting Falkenrath Gorger via Underworld Breach
- Fixed an issue where upon reconnecting to a match, the Emote menu did not open causing emotes to be inaccessible to the player. Finally, we are free to do the one where Will is thinking real hard after a disconnect.
