Game Update Highlights
- Bloomburrow has been released! Gather your woodland party for this larger-than-life Magic set! There are new limited events, a new Mastery Pass, new boosters and cosmetics in the store, new Jump In! packets, and more.
- Standard and Alchemy constructed rotation is complete, and Renewal rewards are waiting for you! Discover how these competitive formats have changed and invent new decks to climb the Mythic Ladder.
- Introducing the Bloomburrow Emporium! Replacing the Mastery Web, this is a new location for players to spend the Mastery Orbs they collect from the Bloomburrow Mastery Track.
Known Issue
- In our Streamer Event we discovered that there were some issues with the deckbuilder not appearing to save style choices and some similar display issues with styles. We are working to get fixes for these out to players as quickly as we can
General
- Updated the “Not enough Wildcards” popup to include information about how many of each Wildcard rarity is missing.
- A mysterious new tab was seen in the Store during the recent Streamer Event for Bloomburrow! Stay tuned for more information about it in the coming weeks ahead.
- With rotation, the Jump In event now only features cards that are standard legal sets
- Updated the New Player Experience rewards to only feature packs from standard legal sets.
- The Renewal Egg no longer appears within the Inbox. Until next year!
- With Bloomburrow, Magic: The Gathering Arena will no longer be supporting the Russian language as a localization option. More information about the decision can be found in the article “Changes to Magic Product Languages 2024” from earlier this year.
Gameplay
- Mana abilities with an additional upside were giving players a stop at the beginning of every combat, which just felt weird. They no longer do so.
- Autotap wasn’t exactly ignoring affordable Delve cards, but it is much more likely to keep up mana for them going forward.
- In other Autotap news, mana provided by abilities that will be doubled by some other effect (like Annie Joins Up and Roxanne, Starfall Savant) are now known to autotap, and will be predicted accurately.
- Lots of updated headers for alternate casting costs.
- Sacrificing a bunch of stuff for mana (say a bunch of Eldrazi Scions…), now bundles the animation and plays out far faster.
Bug Fixes
General
- Introduced a fix for layering issues that would occur when seeing the Rotation or Renewal Rewards Popups.
- Fixed an issue where the Rotation popup flow wasn’t always occurring when expected.
- Sparky introduces the Timeless format properly on the Play Blade. We’ve also added additional fixes to better handle player actions during Sparky Tutorials.
- While in the New Player Experience, players would sometimes not have the appropriate New Player Quest appear in the Quest Tracker.
- The Card Styles button in the Deck Builder no longer shrinks whenever it’s selected.
- Fixed an issue within the Advanced Filters feature in the Deck Builder where, under certain conditions, players would not be able to scroll to see all the Sets available within a certain format.
Gameplay
- Case of the Gateway Express now rolls all damage together as a single event (which matters for things like Phyrexian Vindicator).
- Evoking creatures from the Graveyard via an alternate cast wasn’t applying additional costs. This has been fixed.
- The “Heisting yourself while controlling your opponent” bug has been fixed. You can now Heist yourself for some reason, if you’re into that.
- Token copies of Corrupted Shapeshifter now correctly apply the replacement effect for how the original entered.
- Effects that prevent sacrificing now correctly prevent sacrifices from Annihilator
- The Hexproof from Jade Orb of Dragonkind now expires at end of turn, as it should
- Fixed a typo in the French loc for Genku, Future Shaper.
- De rien.
- Fixed a very obtuse issue where casting Three Steps Ahead while you have out Cormela, Glamour Thief and you have out some combination of lands and mana rocks (you needed several, but not all of them).
- Fixed another different typo in French for Ajani Fells the Godsire.
- Creatures were not given counters when removing the last counter from Mikaeus, the Lunarch via its second ability.
- Fixed another language issue, this time Portuguese, with Wheel of Potential.
- The Neon showcase style for March of Swirling Mist was missing the artist credit. This has been corrected.
- It was possible to exceed the token limit by copying spells. This particular loophole has been closed.
- Sorry people who liked crashing games with Ulalek (I am not sorry).
- Mishra’s Bauble was taking advantage of cards like Shadow of the Second Sun and triggering at the next upkeep, not the next turn’s upkeep.
- In some cases, like discarding to Ill-Timed Explosion, Nexus of Fate’s replacement effect to shuffle into the library was causing it to not be handled correctly.
- Addressed an issue where removing Archfiend of the Dross when the “lose the game” ability was on the stack was causing you to not lose. Now you do lose, which is clearly a win.
- Fblthp plotting a Phyrexian Mana card was allowing overpayment of life. Fblthp now plays by the rules.
- Removing the target of Ghired, Mirror of the Wilds' ability now causes that ability to fail to resolve, as it should.
- Face down Legendary creatures or Planeswalkers were giving players permission to cast Legendary instants and sorceries. Being face down now behaves correctly.
- Bestowed auras now don’t gain the artifact type if they’re played after Encroaching Mycosynth enters the battlefield. Finally, the deluge of calls and emails about this can stop.
- Fell the Mighty is no longer afraid to target your own creature.
- There was a really weird bug where a bunch of Buried in the Gardens attached to the same land caused a slowdown. That doesn’t happen anymore.
- Face down creatures from the Defiler cycle no longer allow you to cast creatures by paying life. More importantly they no longer lock up the match when you cast a creature post-flipping them face up.
- Prairie Dog now correctly adds even more extra counters if it’s activated multiple times.
